ホフマン（Hank Hoffman Jr.）の長い長い話の続きです。

前回は、街の名前をつけましたが、今回はすれ違い通信の説明です。海外ではすれ違い通信はなんていうんでしょう？？

「Truth o' the matter is, I been havin' me some chance encounters.

「I done me some readin' of some mighty old books, thinkin' I might find some stuff us pioneers could make good use of.
「俺達開拓者の役に立てるような物を見つけるかもしれないと考えながら、俺はとっても古い書物を読んだんだ。

「Seems that out there in the big ol' world, there's plenty o' folks on the same quest as y'all are.
「この広い世界の外に、お前らみたいに同じ冒険をしている人々がいっぱいるみたいなんだ。

「Chance encounters is all about grabbin' a hold o' them folks, shootin' the breeze, learnin' a thing or two, and makin' pardners while you're at it.
「『偶然の出会い』っていうのは、その人たちを捕まえて、おしゃべりして、あなたである間、おしゃべりして、多少のことを覚えさせて、そこにいる間は仲間になれることです。

「You reckon you might wanna pick a pioneerin' soul to send off ambassadeerin'?

「I'll git on an' explain what this pioneerin' game's all about.

「すれ違い大使のゲームに関して説明するぞ。

「A pioneer's a body hand-picked by yourself to head on out into the world to learn all there is to learn from folks in foreign lands.
「異国の地の人々からからすべて学ぶために世界に出発するためのすれ違い大使の体を自分で選ぶ。

「When you send a pioneer on out there, you get a pioneer back from wherever you send the varmint to.
「開拓者を向こうに送ると、そいつを送った所ならどこでも開拓者が戻ってくるんだ。

「That pioneer, well they'll jes' settle on down and start makin' a new life for themselves here in NkNkKngdm.
「開拓者、彼らはNkNkKngdmで落ち着き、自分たちのために新しい人生を作り始めるだろう。

「So, the more folks you git on out there an' have chance encounters with, the more folks you'll end up bringin' in to populate this here fair city.
「だから、「偶然の出会い」で外から入ってきた人々が多ければ多いほど、たくさんの人々をあんたが連れてくることになって、この美しい都市に居住するんだ。
