アッテムトとかやくつぼ
キングレオの大臣をびっくりさせるなんかでかい音の出るものはねーかと、
いうことでアッテムト鉱山にやってきました。

like flies は 直訳するとハエのように、ですが（ばたばた）大量にという意味です。

「でも、あんまりあなたの役に立たないでしょう。 それはしめりすぎて大きい衝撃音を出す以外なにも役に立たない、とおもいます。
この場合のdoは、「役に立つ」って意味だね。
